Target, Country Mart, and more...

Target
Coupons in the mail!  I received a bunch of coupons from Target in the mail yesterday all of which can be combined with manufacturer's coupons.  PLUS, a coupon for FREE Kraft mac and cheese shapes product.  The Washington store was out of the Halloween shapes, but they still have Phineas & Ferb and Spongebob.  And it's FREE!  Also, there's a Downy coupon in there, it's on sale, and there are tons of coupons in the P&G insert from this month.  I got a 60 load free and clear liquid Downy for $2.50.  :)   Some of the other deals aren't as spectacular, but still a worth looking for in your mail.

More
Schnucks had some unexpected sales this week.  The Gorton's fish sale includes popcorn shrimp, yum!  Fleischmann's yeast is on sale and with $.40 Q doubled, it's only $.69 for a three-packet strip.

Don't forget about Loaves and Fishes Market across from Schnucks.  It's an Amish/Gluten-free grocery store with a very good selection.  I buy my whole wheat flour there because it is almost always cheaper than at other stores.  I got a 5-lb. bag today for $3.  I also bought 16 oz. wagon wheel pasta for my daughter for $1.87, and 1/2 lb. natural cocoa powder for $2.  I didn't need cornstarch, but they had 1/2 lb. containers on sale for $.81.  It's a good place to buy gifts too, because they have soup mixes, specialty teas and coffee, and all kinds of homemade preserves.  And the prices are very reasonable.  So check it out if you haven't already!

25 cent napkins at Finks!

I went to Fink's yesterday and found some great craft items for Christmas gifts in their dollar section AND and birthday candle for my little girl.  :)

Also, found that they have Bounty 50ct. napkins on sale 2/$1 near the bananas.  Combine with $0.25 coupon from 10/2 P&G and you get even cheaper napkins!  Schnucks usually carries these same napkins for $1 each, so even with the double coupons, you are saving if you can make it out to Fink's!

They have pumpkins and apples on sale also (cheapest in Union), but they are cheaper at Aldi if you make it out to Washington by tomorrow.

Honey Rosemary Chicken

Thanks, http://www.recipe.com/, for the base of this recipe!  I tweaked it a little based on what I had in my house.  This is what I did:

4 chicken thighs
3 russet potatoes, quartered
1 onion, sliced thickly
2 celery stalks, cut into one inch pieces
4 cloves of garlic, minced

Sauce:
1/4 c. honey
2 Tbsp. Sprite
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. dried rosemary (rub it in your palms before adding to release oils)
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. freshly ground pepper

Brown chicken thighs in olive oil, about 4 minutes on each side on medium-high heat.  While they are cooking, chop veggies.  Spray Crockpot with oil and then throw in the veggies and spread them out on the bottom.   Make the sauce by combining the ingredients.  Layer the chicken on top of the veggies and pour the sauce on top.  Cook for 6-8 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high.

Serves: 4
Total cost: around $3

I'm going to serve it with broccoli.  I've never made this before, but it sounded yummy.  I'll let you know how it turns out!

***Since I apparently can't post comments on my own blog (need to figure out how to do this), I will just update.  This was delicious!  I will add more salt next time though and add more chicken because we devoured this meal! :)

30 min dinner: Chuckwagon Casserole

I found this one-skillet recipe a couple of years ago on a website, but I tweaked it to meet my limited budget and still fill up my family.

1/2 lb. ground beef or turkey
1/2 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped (optional)
1 carrot, chopped (optional - I like to "hide" veggies ^.^)
1 c. any BBQ sauce
2 c. beef broth
2 c. pasta (wagon wheels are cute, but I usually use plain-Jane macaroni)
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese

Brown ground beef and veggies together on medium heat (at least 10 mins).  Drain.  Add BBQ sauce, beef broth, and pasta.  Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 mins or until pasta is tender.  Remove lid and allow it to set for 5 mins. or until sauce thickens.  Serve and top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Serves 4.  Total price: around $4

Proctor and Gamble Rebates and Coupons

Wow!  There are some crazy good P&G deals this month.  Here's what I know about them.  Feel free to comment about other ideas you might have.

Schnucks: Buy $35 of any P&G products (before coupons) and look for MIR form in aisles or ask at customer service for $10 prepaid Visa card and CindaB card holder by mail.

Kmart: Buy $35 of any P&G products (before coupons) and look for MIR form in aisles or ask at customer service to receive a $10 prepaid Visa card by mail.  It runs from 10/2 - 10/22 for ShopYourWayRewards members.  Sign up is free on http://www.kmart.com/.  Their ad in the 10/2 SmartSource says that this is after discounts.  Not sure if this means coupons.  You might want to ask at customer service if you are interested and are going into the city.  I'm waiting on this deal to see if they will run their double coupons up $.99 during the promotion period.

Any store: Buy $50 of "women's" products (see 10/2 P&G ad) and go to http://www.pgpinkrebate.com/ for MIR form to get a $10 prepaid Visa card.  This rebate does NOT need to be in one shopping trip and receipts can be dated starting 9/1.  So look through your receipts!  Also, as far as I can tell, you can get this rebate in addition to the Schnucks and Kmart rebates above.  Score!  And, they will donate $10 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The savvy couponer will pair these deals with the amazing coupons in the 10/2 BrandSaver.

Deal ideas: Walmart, Target, CVS, etc. have CoverGirl eyeshadow, blush, and sometimes mascara for around $4.  Use the $8 off 2 CoverGirl face products coupon in 10/2 P&G to score free or very cheap face products and work toward the $50 Pink Rebate.

Buy one 6-8ct. Venus razors and get various Olay products (body wash, lotion, etc. - see coupon) for free up to $7.99.  The 6-ct. razors are around $16 and if you get the most expensive Olay item up to $7.99, you could have around $24 for your Pink Rebate.

Remember Washington Schucks will double coupons up to $.50.  Walmart usually has trial size Tide for $.97.  It will be a little more expensive at Schnucks, but I'm hoping still around $1.  Use the $.50 coupon for any one Tide in 10/2 P&G for free or nearly free detergent!  However, I haven't checked to see if Schnucks has trial size Tide...

Pampers wipes 2/$5 - $.50Q (doubled) = $1.50 each for 72 ct. tub

I could go on and on.  Take advantage of these rebates - they are like free money and will arrive just in time for Christmas shopping!

Country Mart - Prices good until 10/4

I haven't had time to do Country Mart this week, but there are some good deals.  Just a reminder, they will double coupons up $.49 every Tuesday (tomorrow).
